Anna Rogers | Science Writer
After eight years as a biologist, I dropped out of a Ph.D. program at U.C. Berkeley to pursue a career in writing. Since then, I’ve written about science, technology, and medicine for publications including Slate, Scientific American and Discover. I was also the founding editor-in-chief of GeneBites, an outlet for articles written by graduate students about discoveries in genetics.
My favorite part my job as a science writer is that I get to constantly dive into new and exciting topics. I also love public speaking and have been an invited speaker on panels about medicine and science communication.
In addition to writing about science, I also occasionally write (and publish) fiction. I’m based in Oakland, California, and in the picture on the right you can see me engaged in two of my favorite local activities—tide-pooling and talking about the biology of something in the tide pool.
